Bashkir Zaman ethno project is nominated for Russian World Music Awards

The "Zaman" Bashkir ethno project from Moscow was among the nominees for the first Russian World Music Awards in the field of ethnic music. Professional artists and bands will compete in three categories - "Best Ethnic Project", "Best New Ethnic Project", "Audience Award".
The ensemble has performed at prestigious venues of Russia ( "Luzhniki", "Cosmos", "Bashkortostan" Concert Hall, Tatneft Arena). Two years ago, the "Zaman" ethno-project entered the top three of Asian bands having taken the 3rd place at the "Turkvision-2014" International Television Competition in Kazan. In December 2015, "Zaman" with a song in the Bashkir language "Ay Nury" became the second best national band in the final of the "Suns Europe-2015" International Song Contest in the city of Udine in Italy.
According to band leader Radmir Muftahin, the organizers of the Russian World Music Awards duly appreciated the band’s start in ethnic music and offered to represent its interests at the international forum in Spain.
Voting for the Russian World Music Awards will be held openly with participation of jury members from seven countries. Among the judges there is a creator of the European world music rating Johannes Theuer (Germany), former producer of Pink Floyd, one of the founders of the "world music" term Joe Boyd (USA), producer of the WOMAD festival Andrey Kataev, music journalist Trista Yeager (USA), specialist in Turkic philology and journalist Timur Davletov (Turkey), journalist and radio host Ton Maas (Netherlands), music promoter Julian Volozh (Estonia), organizer of festivals in India and the United States Ankur Malhotra (India).
Announcement of the winners of the contest will take place on October 1, 2016 on the official website of the project.
