Ufa writer Igor Saveliev is the "Big Book" contender

Today in Moscow, the long list of the "Big Book" National Literary Prize is announced, which includes 37 works: the expert advice considered 252 books. The Ufa writer Igor Saveliev with the novel "Vverh Na Malinovom Kozle" released last year by the Moscow Eksmo publishing house is among the contenders.
The long list also includes works by authors from eight regions of Russia, as well as from Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Israel, Germany, France and the United States.
The "Big Book" National Literary Prize was established in 2005 and is the largest in Russia and the CIS and the second in the world in terms of prize pool after the Nobel one: over six million rubles will be distributed among those who will take three winning places. Over the years, Dmitry Bykov, Lyudmila Ulitskaya, Victor Pelevin, Daniil Granin, Zakhar Prilepin became it laureates. 10-12 finalists are selected from 30-40 works of the long list, from which subsequently three winners are defined. The list of finalists will be announced in late May of this year.
Igor Savelyev is 32 years old, he is the author of several books, one of which ("Tereshkova flies to Mars") in 2013 was awarded the S. Babich State Republican Youth Prize. For many years he worked for Bashinform News Agency and the last year he started working for the "RBC-Ufa" website. The "Vverh Na Malinovom Kozle" novel was published in October last year with a circulation of two thousand copies and was described as «provocative».
On Friday, April 22, Igor Savelyev will present his new book «Bez Tormozov» as part of the "Biblionoch" (Library Night) event.
