Famous choreographer Yuri Grigorovich will stage another ballet in Ufa

UFA, 28 March 2016. /Bashinform News Agency, Leila Aralbaeva/. The "Legend of Love" ballet by Arif Melikov will be staged at the Bashkir Opera and Ballet Theatre. The project received a grant from the Head of the Republic of Bashkortostan for 9 million rubles. The performance will be the seventh work of the outstanding choreographer Yuri Grigorovich at the Ufa theatre. The rehearsals will start in May; the premiere is scheduled for October 29-30.

"Yuri Nikolaevich has long-standing friendly relations with our republic. Our theatre is one of few theatres in Russia, which has so many of his classic performances. And our ballet collection will be replenished with another gem”, the general director of the theatre Ilmar Almukhametov informs.

The "Legend of Love" – is a ballet by Arif Melikov, libretto by Nazim Hikmet based on his drama "Farhad and Shirin". The premiere took place on 23 March 1961 at the Leningrad Theatre of Opera and Ballet (Mariinsky Theatre). The ballet is staged in many theatres in Russia and the world.
