Ballet show about Rudolf Nureyev with Ilze Liepa participation will be dated to the dancer’s birthday
UFA, 10 March 2016. /Bashinform News Agency, Leila Aralbaeva/. On March 10, the Bashkir State Opera and Ballet Theatre will show the performance "Rudolf Nureyev. Leap to Freedom". The play was created for the 70th anniversary of Rudolf Nureyev (1938-1993) in St. Petersburg. The content is based on the artist's autobiography, where he talks about his life before emigration. The performance is directed by Andrey Dezhonov.
Viewers will see different Nureyev – a lonely boy from the evacuated family, a daring choreographic school student, a self-confident master. "Leap to Freedom" is a synthesis of theatre and ballet. The role of the brilliant dancer was played by a young actor Sergey Yankovsky. For this role, he was awarded a special prize at the "Amur Autumn" Theatre Festival.
Roles are performed by soloists of the Mariinsky Theatre and Ilze Liepa, the People's Artist of Russia, winner of the "Golden Mask" National Award. The play is devoted to the upcoming Nureyev’s birthday on March 17. The ballet troupe of the Bashkir State Opera and Ballet Theatre is currently on tour in Europe.
