Monument to the outstanding artist Mikhail Nesterov opens in Ufa

UFA, 7 December 2015. /Bashinform News Agency, Leila Aralbaeva/. On December 11, Ufa will host the unveiling of the monument to Mikhail Nesterov, the outstanding Russian artist, academician of painting, Honoured Artist of the RSFSR, the founder of the Bashkir State Art Museum. The event will be held in the framework of the Eurasian Humanist Forum. The opening ceremony will take place at 11.00.

The monument is erected on the site of the Bashkir State Art Museum named after M.V. Nesterov in one of the central streets of Ufa – Gogol Street. It was created by the team of artists under the leadership of the Honoured Artist of Bashkortostan Firdant Nuriahmetov on the basis of the sketch by the Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Bashkortostan Nikolai Kalinushkin (1948-2004). The monument is a figure of the artist in full growth, with palette and brushes. The monument was made in bronze with height of 3.6 m.

The Bashkir State Art Museum has a collection numbering more than 12 thousand exhibits, including the country's largest collection of works by Mikhail Nesterov (108). It bears the name of its founder since 1954.
