Bashkir Wikipedia volunteers are involved in the international wiki marathon «Wikipedia Asian Month»

UFA, 26 October 2015. /Bashinform News Agency, Alim Faizov/. At the initiative of volunteers from China, India, Indonesia, the Philippines, Taiwan, Japan, Uzbekistan and Thailand from November 1 to 30 an international wiki marathon «Wikipedia Asian Month» is held, aimed at creating new and updating existing articles on the Asian theme. This idea was supported by representatives of 27 language sections, including by editors and volunteers of Bashkir Wikipedia.

As the administrator of the Bashkir Wikipedia Rustam Nuriyev informs, volunteers of Bashkir section of the online encyclopedia participate in such international events not for the first time. In 2012, they presented a virtual encyclopedia in the native language at a Turkic Speaking Wikipedia conference in Alma-Ata. In September, they took part in a wiki meeting of volunteers of Central and Eastern Europe in Estonia.

From April 25 to June 14 this year Bashkir Wikipedians participated in the Russian contest organized by "Wikimedia RU" and the Fund of regional social programs "Our Future", and added 221 articles in the Bashkir language to the overall "count". According to Rustam Nuriyev, participation of Bashkir Wikipedia in the next, but larger and more significant international event will be another step in the popularization of Bashkortostan at the global level, and Wikipedia itself - in our republic.
