Decision to hold Folkloriada in Bashkortostan underlines Russia's role in preservation of world cultural heritage - Vladimir Medinsky

UFA, 20 October 2015. /Bashinform News Agency, Alexander Smirnov/. The Russian Culture Minister Vladimir Medinsky commenting on receiving the right by Republic of Bashkortostan to host the largest international festival of traditional cultures - World Folkloriada in 2020, emphasized a particular importance of this event in the period of sanctions pressure from the West.
The Head of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov at the daily briefing in the Government RB outlined the challenges facing the region in the run-up to Folkloriada.
“I am very glad that Bashkortostan will host such a big event in the cultural world”, Rustem Khamitov said. “In the next four years, we will actively work in the part of preparation for Folkloriada. We need to arrange and standardize the scenic venues throughout the republic, to continue accomplishment of our cities and regions. Such a task is set to the Government of the Republic and to all municipalities.”
Recall that the decision to hold a global festival of folk art, dance and choral singing in the Republic of Bashkortostan was adopted in the framework of the 45th World Congress and General Assembly of the International Council of Organizations of Folklore Festivals and Traditional Arts (CIOFF), which took place in Arequipa (Peru) from October 12 to 18.
The World Folkloriada is held every four years and is aimed at showing all the diversity of the traditional cultural heritage of humanity in the modern form and contributing to its preservation.
