Bashkir shawl will become one of republican brands

UFA, 5 October 2015. /Bashinform News Agency, Alexander Smirnov/. Bashkir shawl should become a brand of our republic. This was stated by the Head of the Region Rustem Khamitov during the republican session on the issues of culture development, which was held in Temyasovo village of Baimak region.

“Traditionally, Ufa hosts biannual festivals of Bashkir shawls, where our main craftsmen from the districts of the republic come. In Ufa there are entrepreneurs who are actively promoting Bashkir shawl”, Rustem Khamitov said. “The Orenburg shawl is a famous brand today - in fact, it has its roots here in Bashkortostan. Our ancestors were engaged in this craft, and successfully passed this tradition to the Orenburg province, where the Bashkir population lived. Today, the Orenburg shawl is a world famous brand. We need to work hard to make Bashkir shawl recognizable too, with a dominant name due to its quality and consumer properties. We have such craftsmen here.”

According to the Head of the Republic, traditional crafts have become a hallmark of many territories. Thus Abzelilovo region is famous for Bashkir folk felt and Belokatay region - for traditional Bashkir tambour embroidery. Craftsmen from these municipalities became laureates of international festivals.
