Bashkiria is a fan of its own cellist at the International Tchaikovsky Competition

UFA, 19 June 2015. /Bashinform News Agency, Leila Aralbaeva/. Auditions of the participants of the first round of the 15th International Tchaikovsky Competition in "cello" are held in St. Petersburg. Contestants from the USA, Russia and Spain played in the Small Hall of St. Petersburg Philharmonic Society on the first day. As a result of the pre-selection in the cello category 25 people were admitted to the Competition, including eight Russians.

Among Russian musicians there is the Honoured Artist of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamidullin. In November 2014 Rustem won the first prize at the 2nd All-Russian Music Competition in Moscow, and therefore passed the first round of the International Tchaikovsky Competition without qualifying auditions.

The results of the first round will be announced on June 20 evening. The second participant from Bashkortostan Anton Pavlovsky did not pass the preliminary auditions to the second round.
