Issues of rock painting preservation in Shulgan-Tash Cave will be discussed in Bashkortostan

UFA, 17 June 2015. /Bashinform News Agency, Leila Aralbaeva/. On 17-20 June, in Burzyan region of the republic the International Symposium "The ancient sanctuary: archeology, ritual, mythology" will be held in the territory of the museum-reserve "Shulgan-Tash". The event will be opened at Staro-Subhangulovo village on June 18. The organizers and participants of the symposium revealed some details at a press conference held at Bashinform News Agency.
The symposium brought together experts from different regions of the Russian Federation (Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Nizhny Tagil, Yekaterinburg, Republic of Khakassia, Sakha, Karelia), as well as a guest of Andorra - restorer, expert in the field of rock art Giyame Anton Edal. The organizers of the symposium plan to receive his concrete recommendations for the conservation and restoration of paintings in Shulgan-Tash Cave.
"Shulgan-Tash Cave - is one of the most remarkable and unique caves in the world. It is necessary that we all realize that this is the heritage of our ancestors, and we are obliged to preserve all the beauty", Mr. Giyame said.
The participants will make presentations, share their experience of scientific and practical activities. The result will be the adoption of the resolution, which will cover all aspects of the problem of unique heritage preserving.
The project is implemented with the five-million grant of the Head of Bashkortostan. The Shulgan-Tash Cave is an attractive place for tourists. Currently, according to statistics it is visited by about 35 thousand people a year - but the main flow of tourists falls on the summer. The project of the museum with a developed surrounding infrastructure is almost ready. The cost is 180-200 million rubles. The project is planned to be implemented through public-private partnerships.
