Bashkir Puppet Theatre showed three performances at the International Festival in India

UFA, 19 February 2015. /Bashinform News Agency, Leila Aralbaeva/. The Bashkir Puppet Theatre returned from a tour in India. Within two weeks Ufa puppeteers delighted audience with fragments of the "The Indian Legend", "Panchatantra" and "Ural-Batyr" plays.
Within the framework of cooperation between the two republics the Bashkir Puppet Theatre participated in the 28th International Festival "Suraj Kund Mela". One of the largest festivals of folk crafts and folklore in Asia was held in the suburbs of New Delhi, from February 1 to 15. 14 artists and more than 30 puppets took part in the tour. The delegation was headed by the director of the theatre Ilmar Almukhametov.
“Spectators warmly welcomed excerpts from Indian epics, because every Indian knows these stories since childhood. Especially as epic scenes were shown by beautiful, national puppets. The theatre puppeteers have restored seven dolls from the legendary production of "Indian Legend", which this year will celebrate 26 years”, the spokesperson for the theatre Valentina Aishpore says.
Ufa puppeteers have old friendship with India. Back in 1987, the famous director Pavel Melnichenko created the "Indian legend" play based on the "Ramayana" epic. Staging was a great success in India, where the theatre toured three times and became the winner of the International Jawaharlal Nehru Prize. Until now, the Bashkir Puppet Theatre is the only Russian owner of this prestigious award.
