25 Italians from Naples came to Ufa for Chaliapin Festival

The Bashkir State Opera and Ballet Theatre hosted a press conference with the organizers and participants of the 14th Feodor Chaliapin Nights International Opera Festival in Ufa. The Director-General of the theatre Vladislav Samoilov, guests from the Italian city of Naples - Giuseppe Scirone conductor, director Rosie Iovine and officer of Enrico Caruso Music Association Fanilya Pulatova disclosed some details of the upcoming event.

“Days of Naples will be held in Ufa as part of our festival. For four days we will present the world premiere of the opera Luisa Sanfelice by Alessandro D'Alessandro. There will be also two regional premieres - Mass "Gloria" by Vivaldi and the Messa Di Gloria by Puccini. The festival has a very interesting binding thread. Feodor Chaliapin, while still a novice soloist, sought a meeting with Enrico Caruso. Their meeting took place, and after that they not only communicated fruitfully, but also gave concerts on one stage. Two great names today contribute to the unification, cooperation of cultures between two cities - Naples and Ufa”, Vladislav Samoilov said.

Now a whole team of Italian singers arrived in Ufa - soloists and chorus artists of Enrico Caruso Music Association. The joint project involves two cities and creative exchange – in summer 2015 Bashkir opera actors will go to Naples.

Also the Chaliapin Festival’s program includes the Mozart's Requiem, a bass gala concert and a concert of classical Neapolitan songs. Specifically for the Ufa programs Giuseppe Scirone made arrangements of Neapolitan songs.

The festival will be held from February 6 to 16 as part of the presidency of the Russian Federation in the SCO. The detailed program of the festival is available on the official website of the theatre.
