First solo exhibition of Jan Kryzhevsky opens in Ufa

UFA, 22 January 2015. /Bashinform News Agency, Leila Aralbaeva/. On January 29, in Ufa, a solo exhibition of Jan Kryzhevsky "Ufa - New York - Ufa" opens at Mikhail Nesterov’s Bashkir State Art Museum. This will be his first solo exhibition at home for more than 40 years of creative activity.
The artist, one of the founders of transrealism, immigrated to the USA in the 90s of the last century. In late 2014 Kryzhevsky, due to the timely assistance of the Head of the Republic Rustem Khamitov, returned from the USA, where he was in distress.
The exhibition will feature approximately 50 works - works from the collection of M.V. Nesterov’s Museum, 18 paintings from the Art Museum of Vologda, recent works from the author's own collection. Ufa residents will see also the paintings that the artist managed to paint on return - "Pokrovsky Cathedral", "Magpie in Nizhegorodka".
As reported by the Ministry of Culture RB, after the reconstruction of M.V. Nesterov’s Museum a historic building of the museum opened, located in the house of the merchant Laptev. Permanent and temporary exhibitions are displayed there. The permanent exhibition presents Old Russian art - icons, chalices and other objects of the Orthodox cult XV-XIX centuries.
You can also visit an exhibition of the Russian art of XVIII - early XX centuries. It includes paintings, sculptures, graphic works by Levitsky, Vereshchagin, Tolstoy, Antokolsky, Aivazovsky, Shchedrin, Kharlamov, Tropinin, Shishkin, Repin, Ge, Makovsky, Polenov, Savrasov, Levitan, Serov, Korovin, Feshin, Konchalovsky, Grabar, Benoit , Golovin, Kustodiev, Goncharov, Larionov and other famous artists. In addition, an expanded exhibition of Mikhail Nesterov, David Burliuk, as well as works that were not previously exhibited - Kaslin casting, Russian porcelain are also displayed.
