First Alexander Frank’s International Piano Competition opened in Ufa
UFA, 3 December 2014. /Bashinform News Agency, Leila Aralbaeva/. Today the First International Piano Competition named after Alexander Frank opened in Ufa. The competition is dedicated to the 95th anniversary of Professor of Ufa Institute of Arts, the famous pianist Alexander Frank.
The event will be started with Scientific and Practical Conference "Alexander D. Frank - a Musician, Teacher and Pianist." Frank’s followers from Ufa, Samara and other Russian cities, including Tamara Chistyakova, Valentina Starikova, Rima Baikieva, Elena Makeyenko and Leo Frank will participate in the conference.
In the evening a draw of the participants will be held, and then a successor of musical dynasty, winner of the international competition, Honoured Artist of Russia and Bashkortostan, Professor Leo Frank (piano) will give a concert in the Chaliapin Concert Hall. Popular piano classics will be played - works by Haydn, Beethoven, Liszt, Brahms and Chopin. Beginning is at 19.00.
Auditions are to be held in two rounds, starting on Thursday, December 4. As reported in the Academy, about 50 applications were sent at the competition. According to the results of the competition the Grand Prix winner, laureates and diploma winners will be determined, as well as a special prize for the best performance of a virtuoso piece is established.
The closing ceremony of the competition, awarding the winners will be held at 12.00 in the Chaliapin Concert Hall on December 7.
The organizer of the contest is the Ministry of Culture RB, Ufa State Academy of Arts.
