Bashkortostan delegation took part in the first festival of the Russian Geographical Society
UFA, 7 November 2014. /Bashinform News Agency/. Yesterday in Moscow, at the Central House of Artists the I festival of the Russian Geographical Society closed. It was held from October 31 to November 6, and it was attended by creative teams from all over Russia. Bashkortostan was presented by the delegation of the National Museum of the republic, as well as by the folk-pop group "Dalan" of Bashkir State Philharmonic Society.
The President of the Russian Geographical Society, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu opened the Festival. Each day of the Festival was dedicated to a specific theme: expeditions, research, protection of nature, science, regions and partners of the Russian Geographical Society. The guests of thematic days - travelers, scientists, photographers, and TV hosts held various lectures and presentations.
Bashkir exhibition was presented at the festival by a Bashkir yurt filled with antique utensils and handicrafts items. On the day of expeditions the Republic of Bashkortostan was presented by "Dalan" group under the leadership of the People's Artist RB Arthur Tuktagulov.
The Russian Geographical Society was founded in 1845 by decree of Emperor Nicholas I. Now regional branches of the Society operate in 83 subjects of the Russian Federation. In 2009, Sergei Shoigu was elected the President of the society. In 2010 the Board of Trustees of the Russian Geographical Society was created, headed by Vladimir Putin. On Friday, November 7, XV Congress of the Russian Geographical Society will be held in Moscow, which will also be attended by the President of the Russian Federation.
