Bashkir Wikipedia will overcome the barrier of 33,000 entries one of these days

UFA, 11 September 2014. /Bashinform News Agency, Leila Aralbaeva/. The first entry of "Bashkortostan" section on the popular Internet encyclopedia "Wikipedia" was written in April 16, 2005 by an anonymous author. Since then, more than 10 thousand volunteers registered in the Bashkir "Wikipedia" and contributed to its development. More than 446,000 actions on creating new or amending existing articles were performed. Over the past 30 days the section was supported by 51 active editors. In the coming days it will overcome the boundary of 33,000 entries. Bashkir "Wikipedia" takes the 80th place in the overall ranking on number of entries among 287 language editions.

Wikipedia implements various targeted projects. One of them is "1000 important Wikipedia entries", which should be in all language sections. Having supported this project Bashkir Wikipedia was successful: for two years the section rating within the project rose from 135th to 84th place. This is the second place among the sections in the languages of the peoples of Russia.

These days, the volunteers of the republic supported and launched another target project - "Myriad". The main goal of the new project is to improve 10,000 most important articles of Wikipedia. In the rating of this project Bashkir segment occupies the 109th place and is a little behind the Tatar (90th place), Chuvash (100th), the Republic of Sakha (102nd) sections of Wikipedia.
