Books of the National Library RB can now be read on smartphones

The Ministry of Culture RB, the Ahmed Zaki Validi’s National Library RB and OJSC "Mobile TeleSystems" announced a launch of the joint innovation project "MTS Mobile Library".

The first "MTS Mobile Library" was opened in the territory of the Ahmed Zaki Validi ‘s National Library as part of the "Biblionight 2014" annual campaign. There are more than 170 works of world Russian and foreign literature. Each smartphone or tablet holder with support of 4G, 3G or Wi-Fi can download a virtual book - it is enough to point a camera of the mobile device to the individual QR- code and download a book in electronic format. Later, similar virtual "bookshelves" from MTS will appear in the city streets, as well as in hospitals, libraries, shopping malls and airport and train stations lounges.

“It is important to talk to our readers in one language, so we always try to keep up with the times and new technologies. We believe that the use of innovative services allows involving a wider audience in the cultural life of the region. Our joint project with MTS will expand the range of library services and provided the city residence with a modern and convenient way to explore famous literary works,” the director of the National Library RB Aigul Muratova said.
