"Kiselev’s List" documentary was presented to the public in Ufa

Laboratory of political movies presented the "Kiselev’s List" documentary to Ufa viewers. This is a story about a hero of the World War II, a native of Bogorodskoe village of Blagoveschensky region of Bashkortostan Nikolay Yakovlevich Kiselev.

In 1942, the political instructor of the Soviet partisan detachment "Mstitel" Nikolay Kiselev rescued from German-occupied territory 218 Jewish residents of the Belarusian village Dolginovo. For three months he led a group of people over the Belarusian forests across the front line.

In 2008 the creative team of the Russian TV company "AB-TV" recovered a forgotten story of the Russian soldier heroism. They examined the archival materials of the case, searched around the world dozens of people rescued by Nikolay Kiselev. The filmmakers compared Kiselev with Oskar Schindler, the German industrialist who saved many Jews during the Holocaust. The documentary even received a name similar to Steven Spielberg "Schindler's List".

The native of Bashkortostan Nikolay Kiselev is still better known in other countries where the descendants of people he saved live, than at home. In Israel, Nikolay Kiselev was awarded the title of Righteous Among the Nations. In Belarus, one of the cities streets bears his name. In his native Bashkortostan memory of Nikolay Kiselev still needs perpetuating. The chairman of Bogorodskoe village council Galina Knyazeva admits that the story of their countryman heroism they learned only in 2008.

“Now a plaque for the school where the hero studied is ready. The school also will carry his name. Documents on renaming a street are being prepared.
