Cultural and natural complex «Bashkir Ural» is presented at UNESCO headquarters in Paris

On October 1, a round-table conference on preservation of the "Ural-Batyr" unique epos and inclusion of the natural reserve «Bashkir Ural» in the World Heritage List took place at UNESCO headquarters in Paris, the Government RB informs.

As part of the presentation «Bashkortostan – Pearl of Russia» round-table conferences «Cultural and natural complex «Ural-Batyr’s Land» and cultural reserve «Bashkir Ural» and «Bashkortostan and UNESCO – 15 years of cooperation: educational environment of Bashkortostan Republic to the benefit of sustainable development» took place.

The program specialist in natural heritage of UNESCO World Heritage Centre Gui de Bone has highly appreciated level of organisation and the submitted materials.

It should be mentioned that in 2012 natural and cultural heritage complex «Bashkir Ural» including a unique monument of Paleolithic epoch – Shulgan-Tash Cave (Kapova Cave) with adjoining extensive cultural territory, was included in the Tentative List of UNESCO World Heritage.

Gui de Bone also marked that the scientists which prepared materials had done a great amount of work defining further steps on the project advancement.

Igor Makovetsky, the President of the Russian National Committee of the International Council of Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) of the Commission also noted the importance of the Bashkortostan initiative.

“Any meeting in UNESCO is an event. It is absolutely unique exposition presented at UNESCO headquarters enabling to tell about Bashkortostan in all parts of the world.”
