Days of Polish culture start in Bashkortostan on May 11

The Days of Polish culture begin in Bashkortostan within the frames of the Days of Slavic literature and culture. In 2012 the Days of Polish culture are devoted to the 15th anniversary of the Republican Polish Culture and Enlightenment Center “Revival”, to the Year of happy childhood and family values and to the Year of Yanush Korchak in Poland.
Solemn opening ceremony will take place at the Bashkir State University. The Days will be held in our Republic on May 11-16. Representatives of Polish educational institutions will take part in the ceremony too.
Today a memorable sign will be opened in Blagoveshensky region on the site of the former Polish cemetery.
An open lesson, devoted to Yanush Korchak – famous Polish pedagogue, writer, doctor and public activist – will be conducted on May 12 at the secondary school of the village Oktyabrsky, Ufimsky region RB.
The conference, devoted to development of cooperation between Bashkir State Pedagogical University and administration of Polish town of Olesko, will take place at the Bashkir State Pedagogical University on May 14.
On May 16 the guests from Poland will visit the historical-cultural center “St Nicholas Church” in the village Nikolo-Berezovka, Krasnokamsky region RB.
For the reference: According to the all-Russian population census-2002 about 700 Poles live in Bashkortostan. The Polish cultural-enlightener center RB was founded on April 3, 1997. Same time the national Polish Sunday school by Albert Penkevitch was opened in Ufa.
