Musicians from ten CIS states gathered in Ufa for participation in “The Call of Ural”

The First international contest of folk orchestras and ensembles “The Call of Ural” is held in Ufa.
35 professional ensembles and orchestras from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kirghizia, Tatarstan, Kalmykia, Tuva and from Russian cities of Kirov, Omsk, Chelyabinsk, Ufa, Sibay, Utchaly and Oktyabrsky are taking part in it – more than 500 people in a whole.
Professional jury estimates mastery of the competitors under the chairmanship of the national artist of Russia, art director and band master of the State Academic Russian Folk Orchestra by V.V. Andreev Dmitry Khokhlov (Saint-Petersburg).
“Orchestras of folk instruments are the connecting link between “beginning” listeners and symphonic music” - the chairman of the jury Dmitry Khokhlov says – “The works of Tchaikovsky, Mussorgsky and other composers, considered “traditional” for symphonic orchestras and played by folk musicians, using folk instruments, sound simpler and more understandable”.
At the end of the festival its organizers intend to make a combined national orchestra of Turk nations, playing national Turk musical instruments.
The best numbers can be watched on the stage of the Bashkir State Philharmonic Society on March 30. The beginning is at 19 o’clock.
