Journalist of “Bashinform” Igor Saveliev will visit the USA

Journalist of the news agency “Bashinform” Igor Saveliev will leave for the USA together with the delegation of young Russian writers. The trip will last from February 11 to February 23. The main goal of the trip is presentation of works of young Russian writers, translated into English, in libraries, book shops and at the US universities, meetings with journalists, literary specialists, public activists and talks about Russian culture and literature.
Along with Igor Saveliev the staff of the delegation includes prose writers Dmitry Birukov (Novosibirsk), Alice Ganieva (Moscow) and Irene Bogatyreva (Ulyanovsk).All of them are laureates and finalists of the all-Russian literary award “Debut” and coordinator of the award “Debut”, laureate of Booker prize Olga Slavnikova heads the delegation.
The English language prose collection “Off the Beaten Track”, devoted to hitch-hiking travels, will be presented in the USA. It includes the stories by Igor Saveliev “The Pale City”, translated by Amanda Love Darrach, by Irene Bogatyreva “Off the Beaten Track”, translated by Archie Tate and by Tatiana Mazepina “Travelling to Paradise”, translated by Ainslie Morse and Michaela Pakurar. The collection is issued in Moscow mainly for spreading among US and British critics, publishers and journalists.
Young Russian writers will visit Washington, New-York, Boston and other cities. They’ll take the floor at the University of Georgetown, at the New-York Public Library and in Harvard on official reception. At present time the writers are found in Moscow, preparing themselves for leaving for Washington.
