International Tatar song festival by Rashit Vagapov starts in Kazan

The VII international Tatar song festival by Rashit Vagapov will be solemnly opened in Kazan in the concert hall of the Tatar State Philharmonic Society by G. Tukay today. The news agency “Tatar-Inform” reports in 2011 the festival is devoted to the 125th anniversary of Gabdulla Tukay.

The contest’ Grand Prix winner, the native of Bashkiria Filus Kagirov, the laureate of the contest Rustam Asaev and other singers from Bashkiria will take part in the show. The national actress of Tatarstan, laureate of the contest by P. Tchaikovsky Albina Shagimuratova will become the honorable guest of the contest.

For the reference: the IV international Tatar song festival by Rashit Vagapov, dated to the 100th anniversary of the birthday of the great Tatar singer was organized in Ufa in the end of October 2008, organized by the Tatar Culture Fund by Rashit Vagapov, the Ministry of culture of Tatarstan, the World Tatar Congress executive committee, the federal national-cultural Tatar autonomy RF, the Tatar Congress RB and by the Bashkir State Philharmonic Society.

Rashit Vagapov was closely connected with our Republic and with the musical culture of Bashkir nation. The classical songs of Bashkir folklore were always present in his repertoire. He has toured practically over all towns and regions of Bashkiria for his rather short life and it looks symbolically that his first tour beyond Tatarstan has taken place in Ufa in 1947.
