First stage of rowing slalom complex is planned to be commissioned by end of 2023 in Ufa

A rowing slalom center construction continues in Ufa. A complex of structures is being built in the southern part of Lake Teploe as part of preparations for the 450th anniversary of Ufa under the federal program "Sport is the norm of life" of the national project "Demography".

As Bashinform News Agency was told in the mayor's office, the first stage of the facility is planned to be commissioned by the end of this year. At the moment, construction work has been completed by 63 percent. The rowing channel has already been built. Specialists are preparing for installation and are waiting for the locks to arrive. Shortly, work will begin constructing access roads, approaches to the facility, and a pedestrian bridge. As part of the first stage, landscaping will also be carried out.

The complex includes start and finish pools and a competitive training channel 250 meters long and 1.75 meters deep. Bank protection is carried out on a line of 300 meters. The center will be equipped with everything necessary according to modern standards to receive athletes from all over Russia. There will be boathouses for placing and storing sports equipment, warm locker rooms and a gym, and administrative and auxiliary premises.

The Ufa canal for rowing slalom will be unique: it will mix warm water from the lake, which comes from the thermal power plant, and cold water from the Ufa River, allowing athletes to practice even in cold weather since the water will not freeze. Also, with the help of hydraulic structures, the effect of a raging mountain river will be created.

There is a Republican sports school of the Olympic Reserve for kayaking and canoeing in Ufa, and a rowing slalom department is also being developed at the municipal sports school No. 28.
